Bayerwald Aluminum Clad Windows:

Aluminum Clad Windows Technical Description

 Wood

  •  Windows are available manufactured from European spruce, larch, oak, and meranti.  Meranti is a hardwood species with similar grain, color and physical properties to mahogany, but unlike mahogany is not considered an endangered species.  Meranti is the standard species for painted products.

  •  Sash and frame components are milled to 68 mm (2.67”) thickness and 83 mm (3.26”) width to ensure strength and stability.

  •  Manufactured according to DIN 68360.

  •  Kiln dried to 12 – 15% moisture content.

 Construction

  •  Sash and frame components are manufactured with a 3 piece laminated construction for increased stability and warp resistance that far surpasses the stability of single piece construction.

  •  Aluminum cladding is extruded aluminum for strength, dent resistance, and longevity.

  •  Aluminum cladding is vented behind to prevent moisture accumulation on the wood surfaces.

  •  All wood part edges are machined with a 3 mm radius to ensure that the finishes do not crack.

  •  Sash and frame corners are joined with a double, through, mortise and tennon joint for superior strength, waterproofness, and longevity.

  •  Glazing cavities are vented to the exterior to substantially increase the life of the insulated glass and of the windows.

  •  Double rabbet, three step, overlay sash and frame construction.

  •  Interior stop glazed with concealed brad fasteners.

  •  Available with 28 mm (1.1”) or 40 mm (1.57”) simulated muntin bars and 83 mm (3.26”) or 128 mm (5.03”) dividing rails.

 Finishing

  •  Aluminum is powder coated or covered with simulated wood grain foil, anodized finish available on request.

  •  Stain or solid color exterior and interior wood finishes available.

  •  Three application wood finishing process is permanently elastic and UV stable to ensure long lasting beauty and protection from sun, wind, and rain.

  •  Dip prime and finish applications are applied to each wood part prior to assembly to ensure that all exposed and hidden wood surfaces are permanently sealed and completely protected.

 Rain return

  •  The aluminum rain return rail at the sill is designed to protect the window from leaks caused by driving rain.

  •  Kerf installed with end caps to facilitate replacement if accidentally damaged and prevent the moisture accumulation and wood damage common with screw mounted rails.

 Hardware

  •  Available with standard 4 point hardware or enhanced security 10 point hardware.

  •  Fully concealed hardware and hinges for tilt and turn windows.

 Glazing

  • Standard glazing is 1.1W/m2K (U=0.19) Low e insulated glazing

  • Optional high performance glazing is available to 0.5W/m2K (U=0.08)

  • Tempered, laminated, solar, decorative and specialty glazing is available.

  • Glazing is installed after finishing to ensure that all surfaces in the glazing rabbet are sealed and protected from moisture.

 Quality

  •  Aluminum cladding is mounted on wood windows distinguished by the RAL quality assurance certification program.
